Routine Cleaning

Quartz countertops are very easy care countertops. All that is needed is mild dish soap and warm water for daily routine cleaning. Be sure to sponge-rinse thoroughly and wipe dry to keep your countertops free of residue, watermarks, or streaks.

Although quartz countertops resist staining when exposed to liquids such as wine, vinegar, tea, lemon juice and soda, or fruits and vegetables, do not allow these spills to dry. It is best to wipe up food and liquid spills as soon as possible.

For stubborn or dried spills, use a non-scratch cleaning pad such as a WHITE 3M Scotch-Brite® scrub pad coupled with Formula 409® Glass & Surface Cleaner, SoftScrub Advanced Cleaner, or a comparable cleaning product.

Honed countertops can show fingerprints and other signs of daily living more readily than polished countertops and will require more frequent maintenance; however, they can be cleaned as described above. Possible marks from metal cookware or utensils, fingerprints, food and beverages, and other items placed on or moved across the countertop may be visible. Most marks can be removed with mild dish soap and sponge, cleaning eraser, or non-abrasive cleaner. Over time, honed finishes will develop character and a patina unique to each customer.

Heat Damage Prevention

Quartz countertops are heat and scratch-resistant, but not heat and scratch-proof. Always use trivets or hot pads and always use a cutting board. Never chop or slice food directly on your countertops (this will help to preserve the life of your knives, also).

Avoid Solvents and Powerful Chemicals

Avoid exposing countertops to strong chemicals and solvents, especially oven and drain cleaners, paint removers, or furniture strippers containing trichlorethane or methylene chloride. Keep nail polish remover, bleach, bluing, permanent markers or inks, and oil soaps away from your countertops. Casual exposure to alkaline solutions, such as diluted bleach, will not damage quartz countertops.

For ink stains, moisten a cloth with Goo Gone, or a comparable product, and rub it into the stain. Rinse thoroughly with warm water to remove any cleaner residue.

More Difficult Spills and Materials

Materials that harden as they dry, such as gum, food, grease, nail polish or paint, can be removed by gently scraping away excess with a plastic putty knife and followed with the recommended cleaning above.
