Kitchen countertops, especially laminate, are designed to hold up for day-to-day use. However, overtime, those countertops can acquire knicks and dings over the years. Luckily, in most cases, it’s easy to remove knife marks from your counters.  However, if the cut is deep enough, a professional will have to be called. Here are a few ways to get rid of minimal marks on your countertops:

1. Make sure the countertop is clean. Do not fill in a crack without thoroughly cleaning the countertop first. There could be leftover dirt or food particles stuck. All it takes is some soapy water and a wet rag. For an extra step, stray disinfectant on the counter and wipe it down again.

2. Apply the wax. Grab a soft, clean rag such as a cotton t-shirt you don’t need. Apply a coat of furniture wax to the crack in a circular motion with a little bit of pressure. Use as much as you need to fill in the spot. In some cases, such as laminate, car wax can be used instead.

3. Remove the wax. The wax needs to set for a few minutes. Make sure you’re following the directions depending on the wax you’re using. With a different clean rag, use the same circular motions to remove the wax. There should be an even coat. You’ll need to wait for another 20 to 30 minutes for the wax to dry thoroughly.
